It is completely unknown how Morgellons is contracted as it is not even clear what this disease really is. There are however several theories that try to explain what this disease is and how it is contracted. We list all available theories here as far-fetched and unbelievable as some may seem because nobody really knows what it is.

LYME DISEASE
94% of people suffering from Morgellons also have tested positive for the bacteria associated with Lyme disease according to Dr. William Harvey (chairman of the NASA Education Advisory Committee).

CHEMTRAILS
An airplane often leaves behind a contrail that vanishes within a few seconds or minutes. Chemtrails however are supposed to be intentionally created contrails that consist of chemicals meant for either manipulating the weather or controlling people.

COTTON
The theory states that Morgellons is caused by a genetically-modified worm often used in cotton production in the United States to fend off parasites, Steinernema riobravis, which in this case invades human hosts.

Strongylus monospinigerum
Back in 1994 a novel parasite was discovered in China which was given the name Strongylus monospinigerum. This is often cited as the parasite responsible for Morgellons on many internet forums however there is no description of any fibers whatsoever so this may be highly debatable.

According to Dr. William Harvey (chairman of the NASA Education Advisory Committee) 94% of people suffering from Morgellons have tested positive for the bacteria associated with Lyme disease, or Borreliosis.
What is interesting however is the fact that most of the Morgellons cases occur in California, Texas and Florida although in these states specifically there is a very low volume of Lyme Disease cases as can be seen here and here.
