The "Bottled Water Of France" Myth

According to Jim Mortellaro bottled water from France is the reason for the outbreak of Morgellons

(morgellons.eu, 02.07.2006) -- "Bottled water has been blamed for the largest element of infection and the biggest offender is bottled water from France."

On February 22, 2005 an article from a person named Jim Mortellaro was published on RENSE.COM.
Still many people are looking for information on this matter on the internet more than one year later. This lead us to investigate this matter.

The article states "I ran across a site which explains what this disease is, and shows irrefutable evidence that the disease is not caused by chemspraying." The corresponding website however where this information has been obtained from is not given.
Even Google with its full-text indexing capabilities does not find any page containing this text other than pages referring to the RENSE.COM article itself.
Although the original article might have been removed since then from the original site where he read it this does not lend credibility to this article.

Jim Mortellaro (James S. Mortellaro) is a Former NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer in the 47th Pct in the Bronx. He claims to have been abducted by aliens since he was 2 years old. He reported his experiences to the Intruders Foundation founded by Budd Hopkins which analyzes alleged alien abductions cases. However "[...] Mr. Mortellaro has never produced credible evidence in support of these claims. Furthermore, he provided us with two allegedly official documents which have proved to be fabrications. [...]" (read the full article here).

The organism responsible for Morgellons disease according to his article is the so-called "Stenotrophomonas Maltophilia" which is in fact a water organism and it is resistant to many antibiotics as he claims.

However there is no known case in which Stenotrophomonas Maltophilia leads to coloured fibers growing out of the skin. The infection also occurs only intravenously or invasively - not by drinking contaminated water.

He states "Many bottled waters here in the States are also affected" without giving detailed information.

As there seems to be no serious information on contracting Morgellons from bottled water - only this one article cited again and again on the internet this issue should be regared as a myth especially since Mr. Mortellaro has been found - according to the Intruders Foundation - of fabricating evidence before.

According to Dr. William Harvey (chairman of the NASA Education Advisory Committee) 94% of people suffering from Morgellons have tested positive for the bacteria associated with Lyme disease, or Borreliosis.
What is interesting however is the fact that most of the Morgellons cases occur in California, Texas and Florida although in these states specifically there is a very low volume of Lyme Disease cases as can be seen here and here.
